a) AUTOMATIC SEARCH
A SMART+ Matter lamp or luminaire is in fast blinking mode for 6 seconds when it's powered. To connect it, press the "+" button on the start screen where you want to add the device, and then select "Add Device." Now press the button “Start automatic search” shown on the screen. The next screen will show the devices, which are in pairing mode and detected via Bluetooth. You can select and add the devices shown individually by tapping the “Add” button. Alternatively, for complete integration, you can also select the “Add all” button shown at the top of the list. In the next screen, select the WiFi router with 2.4 GHz network and enter the corresponding password with which you want to connect your devices. If you have multiple WiFi routers at your home, then you can select the WiFi from “Change WiFi network” as well. After a device is added successfully, then a message will be displayed that “The device is successfully added”.
Please note that the pairing via automatic search is just possible for the SMART+ app compatible Matter lamps und luminaires, which have “works with SMART+ app” badge on the packaging.
B) MANUAL SEARCH
If you can't find the desired device using the automatic search, you can add it manually as well. Either click at the “Add devices” screen below the “Start automatic search” on “Matter” button or on the bottom by on "Click here to switch to manual adding". On the “Manual adding” screen you need to select “Matter” and then the product category you like to add.
Independent of the entry to the manual adding process of Matter products there are two options, which are described below:
SCAN QR CODE
When you tap on the "Matter" button, your camera on your phone will open. Scan with your camera the QR code on the product or in the product packaging. If a Matter QR-code was successfully scanned, you will be forwarded to WiFi settings. Select a 2.4 GHz network and enter the corresponding Wi-Fi password. If you have multiple Wi-Fi routers at home, you can also choose the Wi-Fi network under "Change Wi-Fi Network." After confirming WiFi settings, you can start the adding process by click on “Add” beside of the product. Please make sure that the device is powered and in pairing mode. If a device is successfully added, you will see the message "The device has been successfully added." If not, an error message will be displayed, and you can try again.
Besides scanning the QR-Code with the camera you can also load a picture of your product’s QR-Code. On the camera scan screen click on the top right on the gallery icon and you can access your photo storage. Select the dedicated picture of QR-Code and confirm the selection. The next steps starting with the WiFi settings are the same as above for QR-Code scanning.
ENTER NUMERIC CODE
Another way to add a Matter product manually is by entering the numeric code. The numeric code for Matter devices consists of 11 or 21 digits and can be found on the device or in the product packaging. To enter the numeric code, you need to press on the screen to scan QR-Code on the “Or Click here to enter the numeric code” on the bottom. Enter the code, click on "Verify Matter Code. If a correct Matter code was entered, you will be forwarded to WiFi settings. Select a 2.4 GHz network and enter the corresponding Wi-Fi password. If you have multiple Wi-Fi routers at home, you can also choose the Wi-Fi network under "Change Wi-Fi Network." After confirming WiFi settings, you can start the adding process by click on “Add” beside of the product. Please make sure that the device is powered and in pairing mode. If a device is successfully added, you will see the message "The device has been successfully added." If not, an error message will be displayed, and you can try again.
C) PRODUCT FUNCTIONS
Tap one of the lamp or luminaire icons to display the device screen to control its functions. Different functions are displayed depending on the model and respective features of the lamp or luminaire.
- Brightness: to set the brightness of the lamp or luminaire.
- Shade (white mode): to change the correlated colour temperature (CCT) of the lamp or luminaire to have different shades of white i.e., from warm white to cool white.
- Colour mode: to set the colour, saturation, and brightness of the colour.
- Shade (colour mode): to change the colour of the lamp or luminaire.
- Saturation: to adjust the purity of the colour.
- Time schedule: to set a time schedule for turning the lamp or luminaire on/off. Depending on the model of lamp or luminaire, you can also program sequences of on/off times (even just for specific weekdays) or on/off times for waking up and going to sleep, with selectable fade-in and fade-out periods.
- Timer: to set a countdown for switching on/off the lamp or luminaire automatically after a defined time has expired.
- Sleep & wake up schedule: to set up a time schedule for adapting your sleep and wake up needs.
- Biological rhythm: to set different cct and brightness levels for the lamp or luminaire, so that it adapts the body clock and synchronizes it with the natural clock.
- Music: to adapt the lamp or luminaire colours’ according to the music being played (local mode: through the product; app mode: through the app itself).
- Mood: to set a static or dynamic mood.
- Power on behaviour: to set the lamp or luminaire characteristics’ after it turns on. For example: after a power outage or a wall switch
- Fading: to slowly turn on or off the lamp or luminaire.
ADDING MATTER PRODUCTS TO ANOTHER HOME NETWORK OR MATTER FABRICS
Once the Matter device is successfully added to the SMART+ App, you can generate the QR code or numeric code for the other Matter Fabrics or Ecosystems. Therefore, you need to generate a new QR code or numeric code here. This QR code or numeric code can be found under the option "Add Matter Device to Another Home Network" in the settings for the product. This QR code or Numeric code can then be scanned or entered in the other ecosystem. You can generate the QR code anytime with "Generate again".
The QR and numeric codes are valid for 5 minutes; after that, a new QR and numeric code must be generated. There is a limit of maximum 5 Fabrics which can be linked to each Product.
