BMB Natuursteen, a distinguished Belgian family business specializing in tailor-made natural stones for over half a century, teamed up with lighting industry leader LEDVANCE to enhance lighting across its showroom, warehouse, and production hall. Through the strategic collaboration the natural stone manufacturer has embraced cutting-edge LEDVANCE LED lighting technology, setting new benchmarks for energy efficiency, cost reduction, and lighting performance. The innovative lighting solutions not only enhance operational efficiency but also elevate visitor experience and ensure the well-being of employees.
With a legacy of excellence spanning over 50 years, the family-owned manufacturer BMB Natuursteen from Wortegem-Petegem, Belgium, has specialized in tailor-made natural stones for diverse projects. They sought a lighting solution that would not only optimize energy efficiency but also deliver superior results in terms of light output, maintenance costs, and product longevity. The company required lighting that could withstand the challenges posed by its dusty production environment while providing optimal illumination for its employees.
In collaboration with installer Velektro, LEDVANCE analyzed BMB Natuursteen’s lighting requirements and devised a comprehensive lighting concept tailored to the company’s unique needs. The focus was on selecting robust luminaires capable of enduring the dusty conditions while meeting stringent energy-saving criteria. The solution: LEDVANCE Damp Proof 5X Throughwiring 1500 46W 840 IP65 luminaires, totaling 451 units, strategically installed throughout the production and storage areas. The integration of through wiring facilitated swift and hassle-free installation, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
The deployment of IP65-rated luminaires ensures resistance to moisture and dust, crucial for environments prone to dust pollution like stone processing facilities. With an impressive service life of 70,000 hours (L70) and exceptional efficiency of 139 lm/W, the new lighting system not only reduces maintenance costs but also delivers substantial energy savings of up to 60 percent compared to the previous fluorescent lighting setup. ENEC certification underscores the reliability and safety of the luminaires, while the enhanced light quality enhances product presentation in the showroom and boosts occupational safety for employees in the warehouse and production hall.
