PROFESSIONAL SMART FOR RESIDENTIAL ZIGBEE PRODUCTS

1. GENERAL Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE INFORMATION


Zigbee is a standard for wireless data transfer that works on the 2,4 GHz frequency. It supports mesh networking with many-to-many network communication and is mainly used for smart home applications. Zigbee’s many-to-many network topology enables large-scale communication networks in which connected Zigbee products repeat the Zigbee signal and therefore extend the network reach. With a compatible smart home system that has a built-in Zigbee gateway, you will be able to control your Zigbee products with your smartphone or tablet. Currently there are several different versions of Zigbee on the market, with Zigbee Light Link and Zigbee Home Automation representing the two older versions and Zigbee 3.0 being the newest version of the Zigbee standard.

Zigbee Light Link was originally developed as a profile specifically for light control and was therefore distinguished by its field of use from its Zigbee twin Zigbee Home Automation. Zigbee 3.0 is the newest Zigbee version which is a consolidation of Zigbee Light Link and Zigbee Home Automation. Zigbee 3.0 enables interoperability of devices with different Zigbee versions and a higher security level. This higher security level is ensured by a QR code printed on every Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 product. This QR code can be used for secured pairing with compatible systems that support this Zigbee 3.0 feature. Our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee portfolio was historically based on Zigbee Light Link and is now transformed into Zigbee 3.0. All our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 products are of course backwards compatible to all previous Zigbee versions.
LEDVANCE offers a broad range of Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products. These Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products can in general be used with compatible smart home systems that are based on the Zigbee standard. However, we recommend using the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products in combination with one of our official partner systems. The Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee portfolio can easily be recognized by the official Zigbee logo on every Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product packaging.

1.3.1. HOW CAN I FIND OUT IF MY Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE PRODUCT IS USING ZIGBEE 3.0 OR ZIGBEE LIGHT LINK, EVEN IF I LOST THE PACKAGING?

Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 products are distinguishable from Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee Light Link products by the QR code on the products itself. If your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product has a QR-code printed on, then it is a Zigbee 3.0 product.

To minimize confusion, please be aware that our Professional Smart for Residential Bluetooth products, which are not compatible with Zigbee or Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products due to the use of different technologies, also have a QR code on them. These Professional Smart for Residential Bluetooth products can be distinguished from Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products by the packaging (Bluetooth label or by the imprint “Works with Apple HomeKit”) and by the additional Bluetooth identification number (eight-digit numeric code) printed on the product.

1.3.2. CAN I UPDATE THE FIRMWARE OF MY Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE PRODUCTS FROM ZIGBEE LIGHT LINK TO ZIGBEE 3.0?

No, it is not possible to update Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products from Zigbee Light Link to Zigbee 3.0 or vice versa. This is because different hardware had to be used for the two Zigbee versions, which contributes to an increased security level with the latest Zigbee version Zigbee 3.0. Nevertheless, our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 products are fully backwards compatible to all previous Zigbee standards.

1.3.3. CAN I CONTROL MY Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE PRODUCTS DIRECTLY AND SOLELY WITH MY SMARTPHONE?

No, beside your smartphone you will need a compatible control unit which is able to communicate on the Zigbee standard to control your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products. This might be a compatible, Zigbee enabled smart home system or a compatible voice assistant with a built-in Zigbee hub. You will have the best user experience by controlling our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products with one of our official partner systems. 2.1.1. WHAT DO I NEED TO GET STARTED WITH Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS?

You need a smart home system that is compatible with Zigbee Light Link or Zigbee 3.0. These smart home systems usually require a smart home control unit (often called gateway, bridge or hub), an internet connection for installation purposes and a compatible Android or iOS device with the respective smart home app. For our partner smart home systems see the Professional Smart for Residential website  or the FAQ section 2 (Professional Smart for Residential and Partners).
2.1.2. DO Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS HAVE TO BE ASSEMBLED?

All of our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps are plug & play and don’t need to be assembled.

2.2.1. HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS BE UPDATED?

Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps can be updated using free-of-charge firmware updates in order, for example, to improve usability or add new functions or features. To install new firmware, your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps need to be connected to a partner smart home system that is authorized to install our firmware. For firmware updates currently authorized systems are OSRAM LIGHTIFY, Samsung SmartThings, Schwaiger Home4You and the Qivicon/Telekom Magenta SmartHome system. Please refer to the FAQ section 2 (Professional Smart for Residential and Partners) to see if the smart home system you are using is one of our partner systems and supports firmware updates or not.

2.2.2. CAN I ALSO CONTROL Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS WITHOUT A SMARTPHONE OR TABLET AND A SMART HOME SYSTEM?  

Yes. Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps can also be controlled directly with the Professional Smart for Residential Switch or Switch Mini which support Touchlink. For how to use Touchlink, see question 5.2.2. (HOW CAN I USE THE Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE SWITCH TO CONTROL OTHER Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE PRODUCTS WITHOUT THE USE OF A SMART HOME SYSTEM (VIA TOUCHLINK)).

2.2.3. HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS BE CONNECTED TO A COMPATIBLE SYSTEM?

The Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps must be in pairing mode to connect them to a compatible system. The easiest way to set Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps into pairing mode is to make sure that they are reset and then simply connect them to electricity. If you power on a Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp for the first time it is automatically in the pairing mode. For detailed information on how to pair them with the different systems please refer to the respective manufacturer support or see the FAQ section 2 (Professional Smart for Residential and Partners).

2.2.4. CAN I OPERATE Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS USING THE TRADITIONAL LIGHT SWITCH?  

Yes. You can use your traditional light switch to turn your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps on and off. By pressing the light switch (power supply), the plugged-in Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps turn on in the default setting. For further information regarding the default settings see question 2.3.1 (WHAT IS THE DEFAULT SETTING OF Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS?).

2.2.5. CAN I DIM Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS WITH A CONVENTIONAL DIMMER?  

No. It is not possible to dim our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps with a conventional dimmer. Of course, you can dim Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps with your compatible Zigbee smart home system or our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee Switches.
2.3.1. WHAT IS THE DEFAULT SETTING OF Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS?

The default setting of your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps depends on their Zigbee version:

a) Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee Light Link lamps:
For Zigbee Light Link lamps the default factory setting is switched on at 100% brightness with warm-white light. Depending on your smart home system the default setting can be changed in the options.

b) Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 lamps:
For Zigbee 3.0 lamps the default setting will be determined by the last used setting. This last used setting is stored after 30 seconds and includes the color or the color temperature and the brightness of the lamp.

2.3.2. WHICH Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS ARE OFFERED AND WHERE CAN I FIND FURTHER INFORMATION?

2.3.3. HOW DO MY Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS RESPOND IN THE EVENT OF A POWER FAILURE?  

As soon as power is restored, the plugged-in Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps switch to the default setting. For further information regarding the default settings see question 2.3.1. (WHAT IS THE DEFAULT SETTING OF Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS?).
2.3.4. WHAT IS THE WIRELESS RANGE OF Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS?

Our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps use the wireless standard Zigbee, which has a similar wireless frequency to WiFi. This means that radio waves can penetrate walls to a certain extent. Depending on the construction material of a building and the existence of obstacles like walls, the signal may be impaired in certain areas. Moreover, the signal cannot penetrate surfaces that are made of electrically conductive materials.

As long as the Zigbee signal is not impaired, it can reach a range of up to 30 meters between two Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products. In addition, the Zigbee signal is repeated by every Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product that is connected to the power grid and in the same network.
2.3.5. HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS BE RESET?

Individual Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamps can be reset to factory setting (delivery status) and reconfigured without the entire smart home system having to be reinstalled. Just delete the lamp in your smart home system or manually reset it by:

a) Resetting Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee Light Link lamps:
To reset a Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee Light Link lamp to factory setting, switch it ON for five seconds then OFF for five seconds five times in succession. Then switch on again and wait until the lamp flashes once briefly as confirmation. The Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp can now be added to a smart home system again.

b) Resetting Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 RGBW lamps:
To reset a Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 RGBW lamp to factory setting, switch it ON for five seconds then OFF for five seconds five times in succession. When switched on again, the lamp flashes blue, green and red as confirmation and can now be added to a smart home system again.

c) Resetting Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 Tunable White lamps:
To reset a Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 Tunable White lamp to factory setting, switch it ON for five seconds then OFF for five seconds five times in succession. When switched on again, the lamp flashes two times cold white and warm white as confirmation and can now be added to a smart home system again.

d) Resetting Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 Dimmable lamps:
To reset a Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee 3.0 Dimmable lamp to factory setting, switch it ON for five seconds then OFF for five seconds five times in succession. When switched on again, the lamp dims three times up and down as confirmation and can now be added to a smart home system again.
2.4.1. WHAT CAN I DO IF A Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMP IS NOT WORKING?

Work through the following checklist to exclude common error sources. If you still have not been able to resolve the error yourself, you can contact our support team directly using the following link.

a) Checking the power supply:
Please make sure that the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp in question has a working power supply and is switched on. The lamp can only receive commands when the electricity/light switch is turned on.

b) Restarting:
Please disconnect the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp in question from its power supply for 30 seconds. After the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp is reconnected to the power supply, it may take up to three minutes till the connection between your system and the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp is re-established. If the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp is still not connected please restart your smart home system, the app of your smart home system and your smartphone or tablet.

c) Reducing of interference factors:
There are various external circumstances that could disrupt the functionality of the Professional Smart for Residential product. Please try the following to reduce them:
  • Reduce the distance between the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product, the smartphone or tablet where the app of the smart home system is installed and the control unit or the next Zigbee network member of your smart home system.
  • Turn off devices that produce additional traffic on the 2.4-GHz-frequency in close proximity to the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products and the smart home system.
  • Surfaces that are made of electrically conductive materials might have a negative influence on the Zigbee signal. Please try to remove them. Obstacles like walls may also impair the range.
d) Checking Internet and WiFi connections:
When using a smart home system, please make sure it has a working connection to the home network/WiFi router as well as to the Internet. To do this, you must open the smart home app, make sure that the smartphone or other compatible device you are using is connected to the same WiFi home network as the smart home system. If this is not the case, please restart the WiFi router and unplug the smart home system from the socket for at least ten seconds and then plug it back in again.

e) Re-add to system:
It can sometimes help to reset the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp in question and then reintegrate it in the smart home system.

Please try first to disconnect the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp from the smart home system using the respective app. If that didn’t work, you can also reset Professional Smart for Residential products without using the App, see question 2.3.5. (HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMPS BE RESET?).
You can then integrate the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp into the smart home system again.

f) E-mail support:
If your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp is still not working as expected, please contact our support team directly. Our support team will be pleased to provide further assistance.
2.4.2. WHAT CAN I DO IF MY Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMP IS NOT SHOWING THE COLOR CONFIGURATION THAT I SELECTED IN MY SMART HOME APP?

First check if your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee lamp is able to show the color you selected. Products labelled “Multicolor” can show RGBW colors, products labelled “Tunable White” can show different types of white color and products labelled as dimmable can only dim the brightness up and down. If that didn’t solve your problem, please have a look at section 2.4.1. (WHAT CAN I DO IF A Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LAMP IS NOT WORKING?).

3.2.1. HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LUMINAIRES BE UPDATED?

No. It is not possible to dim our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaires with a conventional dimmer. Of course, you can dim Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaires with your compatible Zigbee smart home system or our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee Switches.

3.3.2. WHICH Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LUMINAIRES ARE OFFERED AND WHERE CAN I FIND FURTHER INFORMATION?

3.3.3. IS IT POSSIBLE TO EXTEND THE Professional Smart for Residential FLEX MULTICOLOR?

Yes. The Professional Smart for Residential Flex Multicolor supports a total LED stripe length of 6m. You can connect up to 10 flex stripe pieces which each has a length of 60 cm. For additional information have a look at our Professional Smart for Residential Flex Extension bundle that provides three additional flex stripe and connection pieces.

Please be aware that we don’t offer extensions for our Professional Smart for Residential Outdoor Flex.
3.3.4. IS IT POSSIBLE TO EXTEND THE Professional Smart for Residential BLUETOOTH OUTDOOR FLEX MULTICOLOR?

Please note, due to weather resistance it is not possible to extend the Professional Smart for Residential Bluetooth Outdoor Flex.

3.3.5. IS IT POSSIBLE TO EXTEND THE SMART+ GARDENPOLE MULTICOLOR OR THE Professional Smart for Residential GARDENPOLE MINI MULTICOLOR?

Yes. It is possible to extend the Professional Smart for Residential Gardenpole Multicolor or the Professional Smart for Residential Gardenpole Mini Multicolor with up to two Professional Smart for Residential Gardenpole Extension sets or Professional Smart for Residential Gardenpole Mini Extension sets. For the Professional Smart for Residential Gardenpole Multicolor this leads to a maximum amount of 11 poles with a total set length of 23 m (incl. cables and power supply connection). For the Professional Smart for Residential Gardenpole Mini Multicolor this leads to a maximum amount of 11 mini poles with a total set length of 11 m (incl. cables and power supply connection).

3.3.6. HOW DO MY Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LUMINAIRES RESPOND IN THE EVENT OF A POWER FAILURE?

Please disconnect the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaire in question from its power supply for 30 seconds. After the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaire is reconnected to the power supply, it may take up to three minutes till the connection between your system and the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaire is re-established. If the luminaire is still not connected please restart your smart home system, the app of your smart home system your smartphone or tablet.

d) Reducing of interference factors:
There are various external circumstances that could disrupt the functionality of the Professional Smart for Residential product. Please try the following to reduce them:

- Reduce the distance between the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product, the smartphone or tablet where the app of the smart home system is installed and the control unit or the next Zigbee network member of your smart home system.

- Turn off devices that produce additional traffic on the 2.4-GHz-frequency in close proximity to the Professional Smart for Residential products and the smart home system.

- Surfaces that are made of electrically conductive materials might have a negative influence on the Zigbee signal. Please try to remove them. Obstacles like walls may also impair the range.

e) Checking Internet and WiFi connections:
When using a smart home system, please make sure it has a working connection to the home network/WiFi router as well as to the Internet. To do this, you have to open the smart home app, make sure that the smartphone or other compatible device you are using is connected to the same WiFi home network as the smart home system. If this is not the case, please restart the WiFi router and unplug the smart home system from the socket for at least ten seconds and then plug it back in again.

f) Re-add to system:
It can help to reset the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaire in question and then reintegrate it in the smart home system.

Please try first to disconnect the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaire from the smart home system using the respective app. If that didn’t work, you can also reset Professional Smart for Residential products without using the App, see question 3.3.8 (HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LUMINAIRES BE RESET?).

You can then integrate the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaire into the smart home system again.

3.4.2. WHAT CAN I DO IF MY Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE LUMINAIRE IS NOT SHOWING THE COLOR CONFIGURATION THAT I SELECTED IN MY SMART HOME APP?

First check if your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product is able to show the color you selected. Products labelled “Multicolor” can show RGBW colors, products labelled “Tunable White” can show different types of white color and products labelled as dimmable can only dim the brightness up and down. If your Professional Smart for Residential luminaire should be able to show colors but still doesn’t show the right color, then this may be caused by a wrong assembly of the connectors between your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaire and the control unit. You need a smart home system that is compatible with Zigbee Light Link or Zigbee 3.0. Included in our Professional Smart for Residential Outdoor Plug bundle is a metallic post for ground anchoring, which can be easily attached to the lower side of the plug in pre-existing brackets.

Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plugs can be updated using free-of-charge firmware updates in order, for example, to improve usability or add new functions or features. To install new firmware, your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plugs need to be connected to a partner smart home system that is authorized to install our firmware. For firmware updates currently authorized systems are OSRAM LIGHTIFY, Samsung SmartThings, Schwaiger Home4You and the Qivicon/Telekom Magenta SmartHome system. For safety reasons, our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plugs will always be turned off when connected to the power grid. This means that as soon as the power is restored your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plug will be off even when it was previously turned on.

4.3.4. CAN I SWITCH Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE PLUGS MANUALLY ON AND OFF?

Yes. The Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plugs are equipped with a manual power button. The power button has a status LED which indicates the current status of the plug. For our Professional Smart for Residential Plug the button is located on the front of the product and for our Professional Smart for Residential Outdoor Plug the button is located directly next to the socket.

4.3.5. WHAT IS THE WIRELESS RANGE OF Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE PLUGS?

Our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plugs use the wireless standard Zigbee, which has a similar wireless frequency to WiFi. This means that radio waves can penetrate walls to a certain extent. Depending on the construction material of a building and the existence of obstacles like walls, the signal may be impaired in certain areas. Moreover, the signal cannot penetrate surfaces that are made of electrically conductive materials.

As long as the Zigbee signal is not impaired, it can reach a range of up to 30 meters between two Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products. In addition, the Zigbee signal is repeated by every Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product that is connected to the power grid and in the same network.

4.3.6. HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE PLUGS BE RESET?

Individual Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plugs can be reset to factory setting (delivery status) and reconfigured without the entire smart home system having to be reinstalled. Just delete the individual plug in your smart home system. You can also manually reset a Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee Plug. Press and hold the power button on the plug for at least ten seconds until you hear a clicking noise or see the status LED flashing several times.

4.4.1. WHAT CAN I DO IF A Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE PLUG WON’T PAIR TO MY SMART HOME SYSTEM?

Our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plug is a plug & play solution. Normally it should be possible to pair the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plug by simply starting the pairing process of your compatible smart home system and connecting the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plug to the power grid.

If this didn’t work, follow these steps:

1. Start the pairing process of your smart home system. Your system should open a pairing window in which Zigbee devices are able to pair.
2. Connect the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plug to the power grid.
3. Press and hold the power button on the plug for at least ten seconds until you hear a clicking noise or see the status LED flashing several times.
4. In around 30 seconds the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee plug should appear in your system.

5.1.3. IS IT POSSIBLE TO INSTALL THE Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE SWITCH ON A WALL?

Yes. Our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee switches come with easy and flexible mounting solutions, which allow to use the switch as a remote control and/or as a wall switch:

a) Installation of the Professional Smart for Residential Switch:
The Professional Smart for Residential Switch bundle contains the switch itself (incl. batteries), a wall socket, a metal back plate and two options to mount the metal back plate. Start by mounting the metal back plate with the flat side against the wall. You can do this either with the enclosed double-sided adhesive pad or with two enclosed screws which must be mounted in the wall with dowels. Then you can push the wall socket with the four pins in the metal back plate. Now the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee switch can be attached on the wall socket with its magnetic backside. For further illustrations of the mounting process see the installation guide enclosed in the packaging.

b) Installation of the Professional Smart for Residential Switch Mini:
The Professional Smart for Residential Switch Mini can be mounted on the wall with an oval pin that has to be installed with a screw and a dowel. All necessary parts for mounting are included in the packaging. For further illustrations of the mounting process see the installation guide enclosed in the packaging.

5.2.1. HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE SWITCHES BE UPDATED?

The Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee switches have the possibility to send out Zigbee commands to a group of compatible Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products without the need of any configuration in a smart home system. To do this the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee switch needs to be paired with the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product via a feature called Touchlink:

a) Use Touchlink with Professional Smart for Residential Switch:
1. Plug in the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product you want to connect to the Professional Smart for Residential Switch and wait 20 seconds. Only one product is able to pair within one Touchlink cycle.
2. Hold the Professional Smart for Residential Switch 1-5 cm away from the respective Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product.
Please be aware that some Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee luminaires have a separate control unit between the power supply and the luminaire itself. For Touchlink pairing hold the Professional Smart for Residential Switch within 1-5 cm distance to the control unit.
3. Press and hold the left and right lower buttons for up to 10 seconds. The status LED of the Professional Smart for Residential Switch will blink blue several times. Release the buttons immediately when the status LED stops blinking and constantly shines blue.
4. The pairing was successful if the status LED blinks blue again and the corresponding Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product blinks once. When the pairing failed the status LED blinks red, if so, please start over with step 2.

b) Use Touchlink with Professional Smart for Residential Switch Mini:

- Reduce the distance between the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product, the smartphone or tablet where the app of the smart home system is installed and the control unit or the next Zigbee network member of your smart home system.

- Turn off devices that produce additional traffic on the 2.4-GHz-frequency in close proximity to the Professional Smart for Residential products and the smart home system.

- Surfaces that are made of electrically conductive materials might have a negative influence on the Zigbee signal. Please try to remove them.

d) Checking Internet and WiFi connections:
When using a smart home system, please make sure it has a working connection to the home network/WiFi router as well as to the Internet. To do this, you have to open the smart home app, make sure that the smartphone or other compatible device you are using is connected to the same WiFi home network as the smart home system. If this is not the case, please restart the WiFi router and unplug the smart home system from the socket for at least ten seconds and then plug it back in again.

e) Re-add to system:
It can help to reset the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee switch in question and then reintegrate it in the smart home system.

Please try first to disconnect the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee switch from the smart home system using the respective app. If that didn’t work, you can also reset Professional Smart for Residential products without using the App, see question 5.3.6. The Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensor offers two installation options. You can either install it with the enclosed screws or tape on flat surfaces or in between two walls that are at a 90 degree angle to each other. Note that installing the motion sensor on inclined surfaces will influence the detection field of the sensor. Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensors can be updated using free-of-charge firmware updates in order, for example, to improve usability or add new functions or features. To install new firmware, your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensors need to be connected to one of the above mentioned partner smart home systems that is authorized to install our firmware. For firmware updates currently authorized systems are OSRAM LIGHTIFY, Samsung SmartThings and the Qivicon/Telekom Magenta SmartHome system. In order to function properly the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensor needs to be configured in a compatible smart home system. The detection range of the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensor can reach up to 4,5m. The field of detection is limited by a 100 degree detection angle which can be adjusted through the installation process.

The Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensors are powered by batteries and do not need a connection to the power grid.

Our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensors use the wireless standard Zigbee, which has a similar wireless frequency to WiFi. This means that radio waves can penetrate walls to a certain extent. Depending on the construction material of a building and the existence of obstacles like walls, the signal may be impaired in certain areas. Moreover, the signal cannot penetrate surfaces that are made of electrically conductive materials.

As long as the Zigbee signal is not impaired, it can reach a range of up to 30 meters between two Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee products. In addition, the Zigbee signal is repeated by every Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee product that is connected to the power grid and in the same network.

6.3.5. HOW CAN Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE MOTION SENSORS BE RESET?

Individual Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensors can be reset to factory setting (delivery status) and reconfigured without the entire smart home system having to be reinstalled. Just delete the individual Motion Sensor in your smart home system. You can also manually reset it. To manually reset a Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee Motion sensor, press and hold the grey button on the sensor for at least ten seconds.

6.4.1. WHAT CAN I DO IF A Professional Smart for Residential ZIGBEE MOTION SENSOR WON’T PAIR TO MY SMART HOME SYSTEM?

Our Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensor is a plug & play solution. Normally it should be possible to pair the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensor by simply starting the pairing process of your smart home system and plugging the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensors battery in.

If this didn’t work, follow these steps:

1. Start the pairing process of your smart home system. Your system should open a pairing window in which Zigbee devices are able to pair.
2. Remove the battery of your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensor.
3. Press and hold the grey button for about 4 Seconds.
4. Insert the battery and release the grey button within 1 seconds. The status LED should be flashing blue several times.
5. In around 30 seconds the Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensor should appear in your system.

Please remove the battery of your Professional Smart for Residential Zigbee motion sensor. Wait for a few seconds and then put the battery back in.

c) Reducing of interference factors:

2. Navigate to the ‘Scenes’ menu and create a new scene.
3. Select the devices you want to control with one of the four buttons of the Professional Smart for Residential Switch and set them to the desired setting, that should be triggered by a press on the respective button.
4. Connect the Professional Smart for Residential Switch to the scene as described in the Magenta SmartHome app and follow the instructions to select the desired button of the switch.
5. After finishing the creation of the scene, your selected button should be able to trigger the selected scene.

Please note that the long-press functionality of the Professional Smart for Residential Switch, as known from the OSRAM LIGHTIFY system, is not supported by the Telekom Magenta SmartHome system.
