After years of planning, the Kołobrzeg authorities successfully delivered a new multi-level parking facility in the city center. To meet the expectations of residents for this long-anticipated project, special attention was given to its aesthetics. An impressive lighting design was chosen, and LEDVANCE was selected as the supplier.

THE CHALLENGE

The long wait for the parking facility made this project crucial for the image of the local authorities. It was essential to ensure the building had a modern aesthetic, using lighting that would not only look good but also be energy-efficient.

THE SOLUTION

The parking façade features vertical brown profiles running from the base to the roof. To highlight the lightness of this openwork structure, every fourth profile was illuminated with LED strips running from the roof downward, ending at varying heights. To achieve this, 585 meters of high-performance RGBW LED strips with an IP66 rating were used. They are controlled by 81 independently powered 24V drivers, managed wirelessly and remotely. The adhesive strips were installed in 293 aluminum profiles, each covered with frosted diffusers to ensure uniform light distribution.

BENEFITS

The varying strip lengths chosen by the architects give the building a natural and modern character. The use of RGBW LED strips allows not only for color selection but also for intense white light thanks to the dedicated white channel.
Choosing high-efficiency, sealed strips and drivers with a 5-year warranty ensures the façade will maintain its modern appearance for many years. This is especially important for costly projects funded with public money.

SUMMARY

Located in the city center, Centrum Parking cost nearly 30 million PLN and accommodates 325 vehicles. Its attractive design, enabled by modern, individually controlled lighting, makes the building both functional and a visual highlight of the city — appreciated by residents and tourists alike, both from Poland and abroad. It has become a new landmark of Kołobrzeg and underscores its modernity.

The new parking garage is beautiful, safe, and blends well into the urban landscape. It’s one of the largest projects I’ve had the opportunity to carry out. We’ve built the first multi-level parking facility, and three more will follow in the coming years.
