Until recently, all European LEDVANCE orders were processed from the company’s main warehouse in France. While centralization has its benefits, the Polish branch—responsible for more than 20 countries across Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia—recognized the need to streamline customer service and reduce delivery times in order to meet growing sales targets. This led to the decision to build a new warehouse in this part of the world. The chosen location: Wrocław.

Vast Space

The new warehouse spans 22,000 square meters. With 12-meter-high racks for high-bay storage, it can accommodate 32,000 pallets. The wide market reach, diversity of goods, and specific customer needs mean that during peak season—winter—nearly 110 employees handle customer orders daily. Thanks to collaboration with an external operator, staffing levels are dynamically adjusted to meet current demands. This ensures that all products are shipped on time, even during sudden spikes in order volume. Operations run 24 hours a day on business days.

Local Benefits

Choosing Poland as the warehouse location has a significant impact beyond shorter delivery times for the region. It notably supports local businesses. LEDVANCE works not only with a local warehouse team but also with Polish carriers and other regional partners—such as pallet and packaging suppliers. Importantly, products arriving at the warehouse enter Europe via Polish ports, specifically being transloaded onto trucks in the Port of Gdańsk. This means port and agency fees benefit Polish entities, and most importantly, customs duties are paid into the Polish and EU budgets, rather than those of other countries.

Efficiency

Locating the warehouse in Poland not only meets customer demands for fast order fulfillment but also maximizes the company’s operational efficiency and reduces its carbon footprint—an increasingly important issue. Over half of the goods are delivered in bulk container form, where the full container space is utilized by avoiding palletization. Fewer pallets mean more products per container, which—on the scale of hundreds of deliveries—translates into fewer container shipments, lower transport costs, and reduced CO₂ emissions. The warehouse was built according to the BREEAM

(Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) standard, ensuring it meets the latest guidelines and is energy efficient. It also meets Class A requirements.

Summary

The Wrocław warehouse benefits from an excellent location, optimizing logistics for Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. Inventory is planned and managed based on regional customer needs, and LEDVANCE even offers product modifications to meet unique specifications. Deliveries serve both business (B2B) and consumer (B2C) customers—whether buying directly, through distributors, or via dropshipping.

The warehouse has been operational since the second half of 2022, and its team is constantly working to increase efficiency.
